What our board is saying…

Emiel
President

As president, you carry the final responsibility for everything that happens within BEAM. You keep a clear overview, take initiative where needed, and guide the direction of the organization. You chair meetings and act as the official representative of BEAM within UGent.

What makes this role especially rewarding is the broad network it offers: you engage closely with biomedical engineering students, while also building strong connections with members of other student associations. At the same time, the responsibility that comes with the position allows you to rapidly develop leadership skills and learn how to collaborate effectively with people both within and beyond BEAM.

Marie & Max
Vice-Presidents (UGent & VUB)

As the vice president, you're like the right hand of the president, working closely together to steer BEAM toward success! You're the go-to person for everything BEAM-related, from planning awesome events to being the friendly face of our association at UGent. You also take charge of leading the meetings of the event managers, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. But the best part? You get to hang out with all the biomedical engineering students and organize super fun events and even a trip.

All the responsibility is shaping you rapidly into a leader. You're learning how to work smoothly with everyone in and out of BEAM, making you a real team player.

Niels
Treasurer

Being the treasurer of BEAM means keeping track of our revenues and expenses, managing our budgets and applying for the UGent grants. It comes with some administration now and then, but also with a nifty Excel file. You get to be involved in all parts of the organization, yet you have the freedom to complete your tasks whenever you have the time. If you are someone that the board can really count on (pun intended), treasury might be a perfect fit for you!

Joran
Web&ICT

As Web & ICT, your main focus is of course maintaining the website. Basically, you get to play around with our website and make it look awesome. You post our events, enable online registrations and besides that you can even completely redesign certain parts of the site. No worries, we use a platform that makes creating a website very user-friendly! If you want to do something creative while also learning how a website is built, this is definitely something for you.

Vic
International Relations

As responsible for International Relations within the BEAM board, you play an important role in building and maintaining connections with international companies and student associations. In doing so, you help strengthen BEAM’s global network and create new opportunities for Biomedical Engineering students. One of your main projects is organizing a multi-day BEAM trip abroad, where students get the chance to visit a company and take part in teambuilding activities.

This role combines several aspects of other board functions: you connect with international companies (Business Relations), help set up a realistic budget (Treasurer), organize fun activities during the trip (Event), and coordinate those activities with other board members (President).

It’s the perfect role if you want to develop a mix of new skills, take initiative, and create something meaningful and memorable for your fellow students!

Get your team together, plan everything just the way you want, and create something even more special than ever before.
